Earn Qantas Points with your savings account
Reap more rewards from your savings account when you use it to earn Qantas Points.
One of the easiest ways to earn Qantas Points barely involves you doing anything at all! By earning points on your savings accounts, you can reap the rewards just by going about your daily life. If you’re not already, start earning points with a savings account by following these five simple steps.
1. Shop around for a better deal
The art of the deal involves just a little bit of research to help you find the very best personal savings accounts. Not all banks allow you to earn Qantas Points on savings accounts so keep an eye out for current offers. For current savings account offers, see our Banking page.
2. Make the switch
At first glance, changing banks or opening a new account may sound daunting, but these days the landscape is so competitive that banks will help to make it easy for you. Plus, a new account means you could be earning more Qantas Points for years to come. Just make sure you read up on fees and charges to ensure the products are right for you, and provide them with your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number.
3. Start earning Qantas Points in the background
The way you earn Qantas Points is set by the card issuer (i.e. the bank) and changes from product to product. Typically, you’ll earn Qantas Points on the balance of your savings account over a certain period of time, e.g. earn 400 Qantas Points* per annum for every $1000 of your balance, credited monthly. Your points will be automatically added to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account by the bank.
4. Watch your Qantas Points grow
Just like some people relish the rewarding nature of gardening, you can enjoy watching both your savings accounts and Qantas Points balances grow in the background. The beauty of earning on savings accounts is that while you put money away for future travel plans, you’ll also be building your points, meaning a more rewarding experience when you start making those bookings.
5. Enjoy your rewards
And now for the fun bit! The Qantas Points you have earned can be used for anything from booking flights and hotels, to buying gift cards, appliances and clothing on Qantas Marketplace. With the announcement of 20 million new rewards seats this year with Classic Plus Flight Rewards, it’s also now even easier to use your points for flying.
